How is 2016 already almost over?! I can’t believe how fast it flew by, but at the same time it has brought me so many memories and opportunities. This was a good year for me, which I can’t say about every year. I hope it was for you too! Although I don’t usually do personal posts on here, I thought I would switch it up for the end of the year. Below, I bring you my highlights from 2016!
My birthday! I ate lunch with my family at the Salish Lodge and Spa Restaurant and then walked over to Snoqualmie Falls, pictured here, to take photos!
DCON- Key Club’s annual convention! Since I was a freshman, this was my first year going and it was such a fun weekend that I won’t forget! Key clubbers from all over the PNW came together to celebrate a year of community service for a weekend 🙂
Kauai, Hawaii! Taken right outside of our hotel at Poipu Beach, so beautiful!
(left) Views taken from a helicopter ride I went on while there! Such an amazing experience to see the island from above!
(right) From when I went zip-lining! I’ve been once before here in Seattle, but as expected, the views in Hawaii were so stunning! Not to mention the zip lines were much more faster and longer. I recorded all of it with a go-pro so I’ll always have that memory 🙂
Volunteering with Ben & Jerry’s to raise money! Here’s me in a cow suit trying to draw customers in 🙂 I spent a lot of time volunteering this year but this has to be one of my favorites!
Iceland! One of my favorite countries I’ve visited and for sure the prettiest. Everywhere you go is so beautiful and picturesque! I took this picture on top of Hallgrimskirkja in Reykjavik and I’m in love with the view of all the colorful houses and beyond!
(left) The Blue Lagoon! Part of the 25 Wonders of the World and one of Iceland’s most known attractions. Being a geothermal spa, the water seriously felt so nice and I didn’t want to leave! They even have face masks and drinks for you while in the water, it’s a must see if you’re ever visiting!
(right) Thingvellir National Park! Iceland has a plethora of national parks but we chose to go to this one and this turned out to be my favorite shot from there!
(left) Skogafoss! I went to both this one and Gulfoss, another waterfall there that is more widely known, but this one actually impressed me more! You’re able to get very close to the waterfall, but I was already soaking wet standing where I was haha. It was an unreal sight.
(right) Black Sand Beach at Vik! We took a short, 2 hour road trip from Reykjavik to a cute town called Vik. Definitely worth the drive if you go and have a day to spare!
View of the city of Reykjavik from the harbor
Fashion exhibit at the Bellevue Art Musesum
One of many summer adventures – taken at the Washington Arboretum Japanese Garden
Bumbershoot! The annual musical festival here in Seattle. This was my first year going and it was seriously one of the best weekends I’ve had! I’m not even one who’s usually comfortable dancing in public but it’s so easy to just let loose there because literally no one cares, which is what I loved about it. I got to see so many artists that I love including Halsey, Kygo, Macklemore, Banners, G-Eazy, plus more!
How amazing is this view with the Space Needle during the Halsey Concert?!
My first outfit shoot for The Jaime Issue! I had no idea what I was doing but it was still super exciting for me! More on starting my blog this year at the bottom of this post 🙂
(left) Pike Place Market! I think I’ve visited there more this year than I have in my whole life haha but I always love being a tourist in my own city!
(right) The Fray and American Authors concert
Nike World Headquarters! My family and I road tripped down to Oregon for the day, there’s a whole post on it here 😉
Other 2016 happenings:
1. I started school as a sophomore at a new, innovative high school that allows me to pursue my interests of fashion and writing! I am honestly so thankful for this school and that I made the decision to go there. It’s helped me push myself both as a student and person, and I probably wouldn’t have had the courage three months ago to make this blog without it 🙂
2. I began an internship with my local newspaper in December, which is so exciting for the writer in me!
3. Of course, The Jaime Issue was born! Starting my own blog has been a dream of mine, and this year, it finally came true. Even though I’ve only been doing this for less than three months, I couldn’t imagine those months without it. I feel like it’s become a part of me!
To those of you who continuously come back to The Jaime Issue and support me, I can’t thank you enough! I can’t wait for what’s to come in 2017. Happy New Years to you all, cheers!
